THE CHALLENGES OF
BEGINNING A NEW LIFE IN AMERICA
THE FAMILY STORY

The family of Retired Major Wilfred R. Nkoyo, wife Mrs. Mary Nkoyo; son
Armstrong Nkoyo ( Now 25) and daughter Caroline (Now 27) came to the United
States of America the first time in 1982 and returned to Kenya in 1984. That
was during a two year diplomatic service tour. Captain Nkoyo (then) was serving
in the Kenya Army, posted to the Kenya’s Embassy in Washington DC. He was
appointed the Assistant Defense Attaché. His work was mainly administrative,
helping keep track and maintain contact with many Kenyan Military personnel
training in various Military Institutions in USA and Canada. That appointment
gave Captain Nkoyo a tremendous experience about responding to issues
affecting new individuals, who came to USA for the first time. Different people
react differently to the cultural difference and while some get quite home sick
others adjust very well.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEGINNING A NEW LIFE IN USA WITH HELP
AS OPPOSED TO WITHOUT HELP
After retirement from the army in 1988, Major Nkoyo and Mary Nkoyo started
their own Christian Ministry but due to politically unfavorable conditions in
Kenya, they decided to immigrate to USA. The family arrived in New York city
in august of 1992, this time, traveling on their own as private Kenyan citizens.
They were received by a good Samaritan who gave them a two weeks temporary
accommodation. Thereafter the family went through the experience many go
through when they come to USA on their own for the first time. Their
experience was very mild compared to people who had never been to USA before.

With 10 and 12 years old kids, the couple needed miracles to survive in USA and
especially without authorization to work and truly, these 15 years have been
miracles after miracles. For many years, God used the kindness of many good
Samaritans. Today, The Nkoyos are all citizens of the USA and have themselves
been Good Samaritans to many first time comers to USA.
At the same time, the Nkoyos know of very tragic cases of many internationals
that found themselves in very tough situations who never survived the
challenges of beginning a new life in America without any help. Many dreams
are shattered before they even begin. Many of those had Green cards or even
Visas authorizing to work.

Nkoyos Family had to depend on good Samaritans for accommodation for a good
part of their early life. Sickness attacked the family causing much distress in
their economic and social life at one point living in a very uncomfortable
situation squeezed space but today they not only live large, but are landlords
with several tenants in their rental properties. They are into Real Estate
investments.
Launching of this Corporation was purely inspired by the desire to help many
find their way around in this Challenging environment and at the same time
help them live out their potential in this land of opportunities.
The purpose is to help Green Card holders start strong and prosper so that they
can become Good Samaritans; Those who come as students and are too young to
take it all in will need a guardian they can call. One who can fly in or drive a
short distance to provide counseling support. Finally, dreamer business people
who desire to invest in America can count on Nkoyos to help
