ALL IN PICTURE
A HAPPY FAMILY OF MR. KIMANI START A NEW LIFE IN
TEXAS

THE KIMANIS AMONGST FORTUNATE FEW
The family of Mr. Kimani was fortunate to win a lottery green
card while in Kenya but winning was the beginning of their
long journey to the promised land, they had to qualify and
also relocate to resettle in America. One of the requirements
by the USCIS is that the applicant must have a verifiable
contact in USA; a person with a permanent address in US
willing and able to help the applicant resettle in America, that
proves to be the hardest huddle and more often than not,
those who are lucky to have that kind of contact of friends or
relatives end up disappointed. It is not many of your
countrymen settled in America that are willing to take that
kind of responsibility, especially when you have to depend
on them for everything in terms of time and resources. Time
in America is a very precious commodity. The trouble to take
you to places for documentation or job hunting may not be
available.
In the time we have lived in USA, close to twenty years in all,
we have learned of very tragic cases where friends or
relatives kicked their guests out of the house way before
they could know their right from left. Some were taken and
dumped in the middle of the city with young children
becoming homeless and had to check in at homeless
shelters. Others who considered themselves better in their
status back home, had to return rather than become
homeless beggars in a foreign land thus giving up on the
dream which many strive for.

THE KIMANIS BROUGHT LITTLE TO AMERICA BUT GOT
ALOT
The story of the Kimani's had many challenges which were
economic, academic, cultural and work experience.
But all things considered, when they contacted CHRISTIAN
HERITAGE INTERNATIONAL RELOCATION AGENCY
(CHIRA), everything changed:
The Kimanis journey begun in Virginia where they landed in
August 2008. They had come through the contact of a very
kind Christian family friends. According to them, the family
tried hard to help them resettle in Virginia but things did not
seem to work. The family which knew about us as friends
and our ministry cum business gave us a call in the
beginning of September, asking if the Kimanis family could
come over to our state and get help. We immediately said
yes. On September the 13th, the family which we had not
met before arrived at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport
from where we picked them. We took them all the way to our
home/transit home in Waco Texas about one and a half
hours drive. Our home serves as a transit home for our
clients. Here we get them documented, train/licenced to
drive; obtain jobs and help them move to their own homes or
any other place of choice if with new friends as to make
room for new residents. They don't have to settle in Waco,
but Waco (a smaller town) helps them to get started and
there after move to larger cities or states of their choice if
they want to.

This is the state in which Kimani's came to Waco Texas:
  • They knew no one else except their only relative in
another part of the State who did not want to identify
with them at their time of need.
  • The Kimanis had no cash for either food, clothing
    accommodation or transportation.
  • Exept their son, The kimani's did not have much
academic background or experience to work in a US
    kind of environment.
  • The Kimanis did not have driving licences to drive
    anywhere in USA.
  • The Kimanis needed documentation and orientation in
everything from shopping for groceries and other
    basic needs.
  • Their 20 year old college son needed guidance in all
areas to get started for college in a good and
    affordable way.
.
This is what we did to help the Kimanis resettle in
America:

  1. On Saturday, we were at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport
to receive them and took them directly to the transit
home in Waco about 100 miles away. We assigned
    them rooms
  2. The Following Sunday we took them to our church
and introduced them to our pastor and the
congregation to help them start making new friends.
  3. On Monday we took them for documentation and on
the way stopped in various places where they made
    applications for jobs.
  4. On Tuesday we took the Kimanis to the nearest
College where their son submitted his transcripts for
    evaluation.
  5. We also started talking to the family about considering
their son joining the US military and use the
opportunity to obtain military college sponsorship.
  6. By the end of two weeks each of the Kimanis had a
    job.
  7. We enrolled the Kimanis in a free computer training
    class organised by a Church.
  8. Before the end of the first month, the Kimanis were
sitting in  class training as Certified Nursing Assistants
so that they both could start working in nursing homes
and continue further training in Nursing career while
working. Nursing is one of the most paying jobs in
USA. The training lasts for two weeks and costs a
reasonable amount. It was provided for free to the
kimanis after we made arrangements and explained
their situation. Kimanis attended the training in their
free time from their current employment. They earned
a certificate which now gives them a good start in the
    Nursing career.
  9. Through our advice and parsuations, Martin the
twenty year old college student agreed to sign up for
service with the US Navy. He had to choose between
Navy and Air force. He will get free college tuition at
colleges of his choice up to his maximum academic
satisfaction and get all the benefits in the package of
the best employer in the US today. The Navy officer
was invited to our home to come and explain to the
son and the parents before Martin signed up
  10. We have taught Kimanis: shopping, cooking, cleaning
and day to day American way of life.
All these took place within less than two months since the
Kimanis arrived in Waco TEXAS for help by CHRISTIAN
